RCD Inspection and Testing

RCDs are residual current devices, also known as safety switches. They are different from circuit breakers, but just as important because they are life-savers.

RCDs are placed on electrical circuits to instantly cut the flow of electricity if there is an interruption to the circuit’s flow. They keep you from being electrocuted.

So it becomes apparent why it is so necessary to have a properly functioning RCD. Any unchecked flaw in the safety switch can result in severe injuries or even death.

At Safe Start, our technicians are trained and experienced in the proper procedures to check and ensure that the RCD in your workplace is functioning properly.

It is very important for the safety of the people and property in a location that such electrical imbalances between the wires due to any fault or interruption in the circuit are detected by the RCD in time and that it disconnects quickly within 40 milliseconds (Type 1 RCD) or 300 milliseconds (Type 2 RCD).

So it is vital for any workplace to regularly get its RCD tested to ensure it is working properly and meets official standards.
