Fire Hose Reels

Fire Hose reels are a quick response to deal with fires. Anyone can use them to put out a fire, which is why it’s important to have and maintain them properly.

For that, a qualified technician should be hired who will test them according to Australian Standards.

Here at Safestart, we are capable of assisting the responsible persons (i.e. fire wardens, yard managers) to create the right inspection program. You can rely on our professionals to ensure that Australian Standards are met.

Testing

Testing of the fire hose reels at the workplace must be carried out to make sure there is no debris or foreign materials which may prevent the flow of water. It also is to certify the unobstructed flow rate is compliant. Testing also helps to uncover anything else that might be wrong or faulty with the Fire hose reel.

At Safestart, our professionals ensure a smooth workflow following Australian workplace safety standards.

First, our technicians will visit to inspect the hose reel from the outside and look for any debris that might be at the head of the hose reel. Even small bits of dirt are cleaned and removed quickly to ensure a smooth flow of water. Then the reel is moved around to check for any leaks. This entire process is called the physical inspection.

The next phase of the fire hose reel testing process is then started. This entails pumping water through the reel to test it. The water flowing through it is measured and if it falls within the specifications for workplace safety in Australia, then it is declared safe.
